Licorice (or Liquorice) Business Booming Because of Its Importance to Staying Well

Did you know that licorice was recently named “medicinal plant of the year” by a panel of European experts?

It’s precisely because licorice is so important in treating sore throats, coughs and the like that liquorice business is booming. Licorice being a plant, that makes the liquorice business a green business!

Germany alone imports about 500 tons of licorice a year, about 100 of that consumed in medicinal teas.

“The healing properties of licorice make it a key constituent of any natural pharmacy,” one of the panel of experts said in making the announcement.
