Earthpreservers.com is an environmental education newsletter and companion website whose mission is to educate, entertain and engage children and adults, too. Published continuously since September 1992, the award-winning Earth Preservers newsletter is a monthly news and information resource for students, their teachers and parents. It is intended to inform and to inspire children of all ages to make a positive difference in their communities, both now and when they grow up. In recognition of the new ways in which young people communicate, the Earth Preservers newsletter moved online in October, 2011. At that time, a new companion website (Earth Preservers Extra) was launched to more actively engage and empower children and adults through videos, poll questions, and interactive picture puzzles and quiz questions. The new website emphasizes the “eco” in everything around us, including music, fashion and even crime. (EPX will be adding to this list in the near future.) EPX also features a list of online environmental education resources available for free. The goal of the “new” Earth Preservers is to inform, inspire, entertain and engage the rapidly-growing global population of young people upon whom the future of the planet rests.
Earth Preservers was founded and is run by former Wall Street Journal energy and environment reporter Bill Paul. Paul, who reported on energy and the environment from Europe and the Middle East as well as from the US, is the author of both a book on energy and the environment (FUTURE ENERGY; John Wiley & Sons, 2007) and a book on education (GETTING IN: INSIDE THE COLLEGE ADMISSIONS PROCESS; Addison-Wesley, 1995). Paul has worked extensively with Prudential Financial on its youth volunteerism program. In 2010 he was named a “thought leader” in energy by the US public television program “Consuelo Mack WealthTrack.” From 2000 through 2002, Paul was CNBC TV’s special on-air energy and environment correspondent.
